Pack it in. . .

You’re heading off on holiday,
It’s time to load the car,
You’ve packed the bags, remembered snacks,
It’s going well so far,
And then the realisation dawns,
The boot is far too small,
The pushchair’s such a stupid shape,
And yes, we need it all!
You start off using logic,
Slot that here, put that one there,
But after twenty minutes,
You are pulling out your hair,
Squash it in and slam the door,
Squeeze stuff behind the chairs,
Leave that one last bag behind,
It’s yours so no one cares,
The kids are in, knees round their ears,
Emotions running high,
Buckle up, it’s time to go,
Wave sanity goodbye.
